Emily Irene VanCamp, who originally wanted to be a professional dancer, grew attracted to acting when she hung out with her sister Katie at the Ladies Room set. After she began to take acting courses, Emily Irene VanCamp also got guest spots in television shows across Canada. She was a part of, among other shows, in Are You Fearful of the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp achieved a major breakthrough when he got a role on the WB horror-mystery series Glory Days as Sam Dolan. While receiving praise from the critics, the series' low ratings unfortunately caused it to be canceled after only nine episodes. In spite of her May 12th, 1986 birthday she was offered the role of Everwood with the character Amy Abbott. The role she played in the film earned her the film four Teen Choice Awards nominations and an Young Artist Award.
